Happy New Year to all the marketers and seo’s out there. Hope that 2010 is good year for all of you. This should be the year you work for yourself and make it big online or in any other business venture you may found yourself in.

What could be the biggest thing for you this year online? Do want to make $100 per day in 6 months from affiliate marketing or do you want to own online store? Would you like to write your own profitable e-book and sell that to make an income?

Yes, all of you would like to have your bit of the net this year, but guess what? It takes guts, determination and lots of work to get where you would like to be.

Write down your goals and tick them of as you complete them. Plan before you take action and follow that plan to the T. Take action and don’t let anything stand in your way.

Shut down your PlayStation, TV and anything else that interrupts you. Put on the headphones and put on your favourite playlist and start working. Start writing your first blog post, learn to develop a web page, learn to write and speak proper English.

In this month there were some interesting happenings on the Google search results other wise known as the “serps”. The new Google algorithm was implemented during the month of November 2009 after Google closed down the testing servers for the algorithm so that developers and webmasters could test what they could expect when the update came in to being. They tested the algorithm live in Nov 2009 and will be implementing it to it’s fullest extend in 2010, only a few servers has the algorithm implemented at the moment and not at full power.

The test result changes were instant as if a bee just stung you on the neck and you felt the instant pain which it causes you. The changes were so big you could see some sites that were never in the top ten all of a sudden appeared in the top 3 results. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I also saw a lot of big guys fall right out of the results completely.

What I’ve noticed is guys with fewer links got up to the top and guys with hundreds or even thousands of links pointing to their sites got hit with Google’s big sledge hammer. Not everyone got hit but you might get your turn soon!

My findings are that Google’s new algorithm is finding away to hit spammers and irrelevant linking hard. The Algorithm loves sites with a good amount of relevant content on them, with a structured web navigation system and helpful information towards the users visiting your site.

As Google gets closer and closer to the perfect serps for your search there is no doubt in my mind that you are going to rethink your seo strategies and linking tactics. I have a few suggestions for you and they go like this.

Try to write articles and swap them with relevant sites, but remember to include your link with at least a 3 word keyword.

Change your anchor text and target at least 5 to 8 different keywords around the same niche.

Test before implementing a strategy, the best way to test things is to implement it on a article that you have put on a article site like http://www.articlebase.com

Concentrate on quality content rather then spammy seo content for example write for humans not search engines.

Follow a good website structure.

Make sure that you have 404 error pages in place as well as your 301 redirects.

Look at other ways for traffic like having a competition and posting a press release.

The most important thing to do after all is test, test and test again.

Just recently Bing has announced that they had made an deal with twitter and FaceBook to include their updates in the search results of the Bing search engine. This is while Google is also trying to reach a similar deal with twitter and also a deal with FaceBook.

Microsoft was expected to announce the deal soon. What does this mean to the bloggers and marketers out there as well as small to large businesses?

You are going to have to get much more social with your tweets and ad more value to your twitter profile, meaning no crappy tweets guys. We can really see this as a great opportunity to rank and get great traffic from Microsoft’s Bing.

With FaceBook it’s a different story, because users want to stay behind close doors with they profiles and not go public. So this means not all FaceBook updates will be included in the search results. FaceBook will soon make available new tools that will allow you to make some messages public.

There are a lot of ways to build links to your web site, particularly for a niche website. You should be looking for links that look natural and which is relevant to your sites target market.

Listed below are just a few ways that you could use to build links to your website.

1. Create top10, 101, 20 lists about your niche.
2. Create a top resources list about a topic in your niche.
3. Write about the latest news topics or happenings in your niche.
4. Do 3 way link exchanges with sites that complement yours (sites in your niche).
5. Submit articles on topics of your niche to articles sites and get a back link from your bio section.

More advance ways are things like social book marking, pinging and RSS submissions. You could swap out articles for links. You can join forums in your niche and get a signature link from them.

You could create viral flash games and submit it to all flash game sites on the net and get back links from that (works like a charm). Viral videos can bring you links and lots of traffic. You can buy links but it could cost you an arm or a leg.

Just remember to use your keywords and keyword phrases in the links that link back to rank for those keywords.

Google’s new side wiki opens up a new venture for the already giant enterprise company. They bring us great tools and sometimes not so great tools.

The Google sidewiki lets you leave comments and messages on other peoples sites via a browser plugin. This opens the door to spam and other people steeling your traffic.

Unlike me, other marketers out there either think this could be a hazard for their sites, because of the possibility of losing business from people leaving bad feed back or just competition looking for revenge…

And the possible opportunity that lies in front of people to use this as a social marketing tool. Google just comes up with great ideas every time but will this be worth it in the long run, we would just have to wait and see!

I’m so p*ssed off right now. Just a couple of minutes ago I get an automatic renewal notice from godaddy.com telling me that they are automatically renewing a Business Registration (this not a domain registration or hosting).

The thing that makes me angry is that I know for a fact that I did not register for this thing. I have moved all my hosting from Godaddy and only kept my domains on auto renew and now out of the blue they charge me for this cr*p.

Google just recently announced the new Google labs gadget called fast flip. Fast flip allows you read the latest and most popular news headline snippets around the world.

Google makes things easier by having a thumbnail shot of each headline and allowing you to flip through the latest news headlines in a very fast and funky new way. It only takes a split second to move through the news headlines.

I personally think this is a great idea from Google, as I’m also addicted to reading the news online because it’s must faster than waiting for your news reader on the TV to bring you the news.
